How to Find old Tweets Using Twitter App Search

  1. Open the Twitter app and log-in your account.
  2. Click the “Search” button in the bottom section of the page and type “from: [username]” to find your old tweets.
  3. If you are searching for the old tweets of another user, type “from:” and the user’s username, remember, you no longer need to use “@” in searching.
  4. Categorize the search using the following date range, hashtag, keyword, and user mentions.
By Date Range

If you are searching using the date range, you can follow this format: since: yyyy-mm-dd until yyyy-mm-dd

By Keyword

If you are searching using the keyword of a tweet content, add the word you are searching for after their username in the search bar.

By Hashtag

You can search for older tweet using the hashtag. Just type “#” together with the hashtag you are searching for.

By User mentions

If you are looking for a tweet by the user mentions, type “@” together with the username a specific user was mentioning.

Their tabs are shown at the top of the page which are Top, Latest, People, Photos, Video, News and Periscope. You can click the category of the tweet that you are searching for.

Finding Old Tweets Using the Twitter advanced search

Aside from using the Twitter app, you can also use the Twitter advanced search in finding for your older tweets. This advanced search will give you a return list of older tweets you are searching for.

Sign into your account on Twitter and click on Advanced Search Page.

Type and enter your username under the “People” icon into the “From these accounts” button — no need to put the symbol “@” before your username.

Choose the date range for your search under “Dates.”

Tap “Search.” Twitter will load for a while and show a list of top tweets from the date range.

Tap the “Latest” tab to see every tweet posted on your chosen date.

Unsure about the date? You can use the keywords of the tweet’s content.

You can state the whole content of the tweet, phrases, or keywords, and Twitter will show the results.
